Happy Hump Day to you all, I really hope you’re having a fantastic week so far, it’s crazy to think that it’s nearly the weekend.

You may well remember a couple of weeks ago I did a post on Thornbridge Brewery if you want to check out this post just click here:

Today’s post will be on AM/PM which is one of the finest selected beers that you can buy from this local UK brewery, I hope you’re looking forward to this post!

History

Here is just a small summary of the brewery:

AM/PM is proudly brewed by Thornbridge Brewery which is located in the Peak District, in the beautiful town of Bakewell, famous for its Bakewell Tarts, trust me these are gorgeous!

I remember once when me and Isobel ventured to Bakewell one day and I couldn’t resist but buy a Bakewell Tart, it was so beautiful and delicious

The brewery was founded in 2005 by two brewing geniuses, Jim Harrison and Simon Webster, the former location for the brewery was at Thornbridge Hall.

In 2009 was when the new state of the art brewery was buil-in Bakewell and the former building at Thornbridge Hall is now being used as an experimental site, this is where the team test out new brews which could potentially be sold to the public.

Just to give you a bit of clarity of where the brewery was originally based, here is a capture of Thornbridge Hall!

I mean you’ve got to admit that Thornbridge Hall is absolutely stunning, me and Isobel have never visited here, but I have a feeling a visit will have to happen sometime soon, I really want to visit here.

Who would ever think that a brewery would have been located at a place like this, it’s absolutely amazing.

Thornbridge Brewery

This is the current location for the brewery, again this is somewhere else I’ve never been to, but it will certainly be on the cards for next year, I just love how all breweries come in a variety of different shapes and sizes, I mean from the first look, it makes you think its a shop, but when you go inside, you’ll see all of the tremendous magic that happens.

The other feature I will mention briefly is that Thornbridge Brewery uses Barrel-Ageing, this is something that is becoming increasingly popular with the brewing industry, many brewers have taken the experience from the Whisky industry, who use the same techniques in order to distil whisky.

In a nutshell, this is the outline of Thornbridge Brewery, I’ve tried to keep it as concise as possible, but you all know me by now, I do waffle on quite a lot, hahaha!

Tasting Notes

A session IPA – Bags of tropical fruit aromas, pineapple, tangerine, guava and passionfruit are balanced with a chewy honeyed malt character.

Review

I came about this beer when I purchased my Honest Brew mixed case of the Internet, the case which I purchased had The Top 12 Great British Beers, I was so happy when I received this case, I just didn’t know what to expect when I opened it.

This was the 3rd beer that I was sampling into, and the first feature that came to my attention was the name of the beer, I mean I’ve never tried a beer called AM/PM, it must mean you can try it any time of the day!

Even more, after a busy day, I was ready to try this beer, I was really looking forward to it, I have tried many beers from Thornbridge before and some have been brilliant and others not so good, I had really high expectations for this beer.

The expectations were certainly being delivered after the first sip, it was just completely beautiful and sweet, it felt like drinking a very tropical cocktail on the beach, I wish I was on the beach, sadly not this year!

AMPM 1

This was a tremendous beer, I just can’t believe how beautiful it was, full of fruitiness which is what I love about beers.

I really wish I had another bottle, sadly only 1 was in the box, I am hoping though in the future when the situation is safer, I can travel up to the Peak District and buy a handful of AM/PM.

The last part of this beer made me sad because I didn’t want it to end, I was just enjoying it so much, if you want a fruity and punchy beer then this is the beer to go for.

Ending

WOW! Just WOW!

I couldn’t believe what this beer delivered and it has made me want to try more beers from this brewery in the future.

I would like to say though if you want to try a mixture of different beers, I would highly recommend you to buy a case from Honestbrew, there a variety of cases to choose from and the prices are particularly cheap.

On the other hand, I also highly recommend this beer to you, not just down to the name, but the aromas that are provided are just totally exquisite, if I enjoyed this beer, then I can certainly tell you, that you will love this beer as well.

When it’s safe, please do the sensible option, travel to Thornbridge Brewery and purchase AM/PM, you really don’t know what you’re missing.

Cheers

  1. I just finished reading another blog about Bakewell and was saying how I had never heard of Bakewell before! The tarts sound divine and Thornbridge Hall looks incredible. My boyfriend is more into IPAs than I am but I can get behind a good session IPA. The AM/PM really sounds good with all the fruity accents!
