A very happy Sunday to you all, I hope you all are having a fantastic weekend and celebrating Mother’s Day as best as you can for the second consecutive year. I actually remember quite well from last year’s Mother’s Day (which was later on in March), my workplace was meant to be full of families celebrating Mother’s Day whilst feasting into a three-course meal.
Sadly though, the restaurant was empty, pubs were ordered to close and the national lockdown was starting to take effect for the next four months, it was a horrible atmosphere walking in on an empty building, not being able to see all the fantastic customers enjoying our food and having a tremendous time.
Lightbulb Extra Pale Ale – 4.5% ABV
Chapter 2, is what I am going to call it! Over the past month and a half, I have been focusing many of my beer reviews on local treats from my hometown (Burton Upon Trent) and the surrounding area! Well, now I have made the decision to finish with my local area and start to sample some new beers from a variety of different towns and cities across the UK!
At the end of the day, in my mind, I think it’s completely right to try new beers from different breweries and personally some of these breweries either I or you would have never heard.

Well would you believe it, the weekend is here once again! That’s another week done and dusted and certainly another week where we can say we are moving ever closer to coming out of this pandemic.
As I stated in my previous post, I am now ending the first part of my journey of finding some of the most amazing beers from my hometown Burton Upon Trent, the brewing capital, I have now realised its now time to move onto new places!
Tower Bitter – 4.2% ABV
Yes, I’m going to admit, I’ve decided to focus on two more beers from my hometown, Burton Upon Trent and you’re probably wondering, why?, my answer is simple, I haven’t actually reviewed any beers from this microbrewery based in the town, so I decided now was the time!
To be fair, if it wasn’t for Brews Of The World, I wouldn’t have had the chance to try these two beers from such an awesome microbrewery that has loads of history.
Blueberry Muffin Stout – 6.5% ABV
It’s Friday! Another week is done and dusted and we’re into the last few days of February, I always particularly find February to always go quick, just because of how short it is. Although, I have to admit I’ve tried some amazing beers over the course of the month.
Modwena Oatmeal Stout, Thomas Sykes Old Ale and Crumble In The Bronx have certainly been placed at the top of the list for my favourite beers of February!
Crumble In The Bronx – 4.8% ABV
Sour beers, you are probably thinking (Yuck), why the hell would you want to drink a beer that tastes sour. In general, if you went into a bar and purchased a pint of cask ale, then you started drinking it and it tasted sour, more than likely you’ll reappear back up to the bar and say ‘the beers off’.
The fact is, sour beers are never found in Cask Ales, but on the other hand, many craft beers are produced in a sour way, the next question you are probably wondering is why. Well, in the history section you will find out!
Thomas Sykes (Old Ale) – 10% ABV
Well, there we have it, another week has just flown by like that! We can finally say hello to the weekend once again!
I have to admit, I am truly looking forward to bringing you this post today, the reason being this is the first time I’ve ever sampled a Barley Wine before.
Bridge Bitter – 4.2% ABV
Good morning to you all, how are you all keeping through lockdown 3! It honestly feels a very long time since I last went to a pub for a pint of beer, I have to admit I am missing going out for a beer and a bite to eat, let’s hope it won’t be too long until we reach some sort of normality.
In my previous posts from last week, I focused on two outstanding beers which are brewed by Burton Town Brewery, the second youngest microbrewery based in Burton Upon Trent, the beers featured were Modwena Oatmeal Stout and Albion Pale Ale.
