Hello September, how are we today?
The British Summer is sadly nearly over!
This also means, that the seasonal change for beer is happening, we are having to say a farewell to the glorious fruity/sweet light beers, and now say hello to the warming and delicious dark beers, my personal favourite are the stouts.
I adore a stout in the winter, the main reason is that I can enjoy a gorgeous pint of beer whilst relaxing in front of the fire watching a classical Christmas film, I know its only September but December will be here before you know it, I’m sorry to say that.
Anyway, moving on, I wanted to touch base that today’s blog post is on a beautiful beer called Heritage Fireside Ale!
History
Fireside Ale is proudly brewed by The Heritage Brewing Company, which is a historical microbrewery based in Burton Upon Trent, in the heart of The National Brewery Centre.
If you cast your mind back to March when I started up my blog, I posted about this microbrewery, if you want to refresh your memory, then by all means please do by clicking here!
The Heritage Brewing Company was officially formed in January 2017 by a tourism and leisure company (Planning Solutions Limited), the brewery sits in one of the oldest parts of the museum and was originally known as The William Worthington Microbrewery.
The brewery’s aim is to recreate past beers to a modern audience, a vast majority of the beers that are brewed form part of the UK’s brewing industry such as e.g. Worthington Whiteshield
Heritage Fireside Ale was first officially brewed in November 2017, and was the first beer to be selected as a winter beer and I must admit its a beauty.
If you want to warm yourselves up on that cold winter evening, then this is the beer to go for.
Tasting Notes
A smooth dark warming winter ale with malty toffee and a hint of coffee – I hope these tasting notes are getting you into the spirit of trying this beer.
Review
I couldn’t wait to try this beer, I luckily had a couple of bottles of Fireside at home, so I was really in the mood for trying it.
Last week I was enjoying spending time with Isobel, and the family for the week and I knew I needed some beer to keep me occupied whilst I was on holiday.
Furthermore, it was a fantastic week off, me and Isobel certainly enjoyed spending the week together, I just love being with her! (I know a bit soppy, but this girl is beautiful)
The beer that I bought, I shared with Isobel’s Father, he couldn’t wait to try it, especially that I told him that it was my favourite beer, and how I described it got him in the mood for it even more.
Sharing is caring, I was so looking forward to trying my beer!
The scents of coffee and toffee were brimming away as soon as I poured the beer, it was completely sensational, I was enjoying this beer so much me and Isobel decided to watch films in the den, I really felt I was on holiday in a lodge, it was so cosy.
I always think I pick the best beers to try and sample and this one was living up to my expectations.
I am in plans to buy a pack of this beer for winter, because if you just want to relax after a long week at work, the best beer I can suggest for you to indulge into is Fireside Ale.
I would highly say this beer is completely moreish, it is a beer that must be consumed lightly, due to its strength.
After finishing our beer, it was time to relax for the rest of the evening and enjoyed a beautiful homemade Chilli Con-carne made my Isobel’s mum.
Ending
What a perfect beer, it was a dream come true! I was really enjoying it so much
The fact is, if I could potentially buy a barrel of this beer, I would love to have one right now!
It may take me some time to drink it though. Haha
I highly recommend to all of you to try, Heritage Fireside Ale, I know I was shocked with what was delivered, but I can guarantee yourself you would love this beer.
If you ever get the chance to travel to England and visit my hometown of Burton Upon Trent, I would also recommend doing either guided or self guided of The National Brewery Centre, its one of the most amazing beer museums, I’ve ever seen!
I hope you have enjoyed this post, I am hugely sorry for not posting recently, but I do hope you are continuing to enjoy my posts!
Until next time, Stay Safe and Take Care!

Love that this has a hint of coffee flavor in it; coffee always gets me into the fall vibe, and there is nothing like a little malty toffee to make me sigh over the holidays. I never found an ale suitable for cooler weather, but this has me inspired to try this! 🙂
