Glengoyne Distillery, the award-winning Highland whisky producer known for its sustainability-first approach, has unveiled the Glengoyne Wetlands Single Cask Release 2025. This limited-edition whisky strengthens the distillery’s longstanding partnership with the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT), with donations from every bottle sold going directly toward vital wetlands conservation projects.

A Whisky Inspired by Environmental Sustainability
Glengoyne was the first Scotch whisky distillery to create its own dedicated water-treatment wetlands, designed to naturally process wastewater while supporting thriving wildlife. The new release celebrates this innovative environmental achievement.
The 500-bottle release, priced at £190, is bottled at a powerful 61.1% ABV. Drawn from refill Sherry Butt No. 190257, filled on 8 June 2009, the cask delivers depth, elegance and a flavour profile shaped by Glengoyne’s slow-distilled style. The use of a refill cask was deliberately chosen to mirror the distillery’s low-impact, sustainability-driven ethos.

Limited-Edition Artwork by Elin Manon

- The traditional Glengoyne Distillery
- The surrounding wetlands
- The iconic Glengoyne geese (from Glen Guin—“valley of the geese”)
With every bottle sold, Glengoyne donates to the WWT to support wetland preservation and wildlife protection across the UK.
Building on a Decade of Conservation Impact

This 2025 release follows the hugely successful first Wetlands Single Cask launched in 2021 to mark 10 years of the distillery’s wetlands. Through the Glengoyne–WWT partnership, the distillery has contributed to:
- The Blue Recovery Fund
- The Wetlands Can! Campaign
- Sponsorship of the WWT Caerlaverock Reserve
- Funding the restoration of a bird hide now known as The Glengoyne Hide
These projects highlight Glengoyne’s mission to pair world-class whisky production with meaningful environmental action.
Official Statement from Glengoyne
Katie Burns of Glengoyne said: “Our exclusive whisky partnership with the WWT has a natural synergy with Glengoyne, derived from Glen Guin, or ‘valley of the geese,’ as the charity’s work supports the environment in which these geese, and other wildfowl, thrive. After a dozen years of successfully partnering with the charity, we are delighted to continue to support the WWT’s invaluable work. The Wetlands Can! Campaign calls for the creation of 100,000 hectares of wetlands across the UK and we’re delighted to have dipped a toe in the water – pun intended – and helped towards achieving this admirable goal.”
Early Preview at the Wild Goose Festival 2025
Glengoyne also supported the Wild Goose Festival 2025, a week-long celebration of nature and conservation. Festivalgoers at WWT Caerlaverock on 25 October were among the first to sample the Wetlands Single Cask, with early access to purchase bottles ahead of the official release.
