As the Year of the Horse approaches, Tamdhu Single Malt Scotch Whisky is preparing to welcome Chinese New Year 2026 with a stunning new limited-edition release. Celebrated worldwide for its dedication to 100% sherry-cask maturation, Tamdhu has unveiled its annual festive expression—an ultra-premium whisky that marries tradition, artistry, and the bold spirit of the horse.

A Rare Collectable for the New Year of the Horse
The 2026 Tamdhu ‘Year of the Horse’ Limited Edition is bottled at a bold 53.8% ABV and will be available in the UK from mid-November. With only 300 bottles allocated to the UK market, this release is poised to become a sought-after collectors’ item among whisky enthusiasts and Chinese New Year celebrators alike. Priced at £150 RRP for a 70cl bottle, demand is expected to outpace supply.
Striking Packaging That Celebrates Heritage and Fortune
Encased in the brand’s iconic octagonal bottle, this release stands out with vibrant red packaging—an auspicious colour for Chinese New Year symbolising prosperity and good luck. The artwork features a rider and steed gracefully passing the historic Victorian Dalbeallie Railway Station, which still stands at the heart of the Tamdhu Distillery on Speyside.
Tamdhu commissioned acclaimed visual artist Page Tsou to craft this exclusive illustration. His design captures the strength, energy, and momentum of the horse—long regarded as a symbol of power, perseverance, and rapid success. These qualities align perfectly with Tamdhu’s own philosophy of dedication and excellence.
Honouring Tradition With Exceptional Sherry Cask Maturation
Iain Weir, Brand Director of Tamdhu Whisky, highlights the craftsmanship behind the release:
“This specially selected batch-strength bottling captures Tamdhu just as our founders intended when they established the brand on the banks of the River Spey in 1897. The deep natural colour is a gift of sherry casks and time alone—a perfect toast to determination.
“In the Year of the Horse, we honour your ambition by raising a glass to the image of the renowned eight steeds and bless your path to success in the coming year. We are guided by our unwavering pursuit of perfection, maturing every drop of Tamdhu that we release only in the finest sherry-seasoned oloroso casks from Jerez in Spain.”
This release continues Tamdhu’s unwavering commitment to maturing every drop exclusively in sherry-seasoned casks, resulting in the signature depth, richness, and natural colour that the distillery is celebrated for.
