Keller Pils 4.8% ABV

Hello everyone and a happy weekend to you all! That’s another week done and dusted, and it is officially less than two weeks now until Christmas Day!

Are you getting excited!

I have to admit I love this time of the year, I mean I know this Christmas is going to be a strange one, but listening to Christmas music and seeing all the beautiful Christmas lights just gets me into the spirit.

To be honest, I’ve been listening to Christmas music now since the end of November, I always have a good sing along to all of the classics.

Of course, you truly can’t beat a Mince Pie at Christmas! They’re so scrumptious!

Today’s post is on a terrific Pilsner Lager Beer called Keller Pils, and I must say this beer was absolutely amazing.

So why not sit back, grab yourself a beer/whisky and indulge yourself into a deep filled mince pie.

History

Keller Pils is not your typical beer that has that UK style, instead, the concept of the beer is to make it a Belgian style beer by using a variety of different hops to give it a wonderful flavour.

Keller Pils is proudly brewed by Lost and Grounded Brewers, the brewery is located in Bristol (UK) and was first established in July 2016.

The brewery was founded by Alex Troncoso, in his early career, Alex stated he wanted to be a brewer since he was 18 years old, he successfully graduated as a chemical engineer and he mainly spent most of his time trialling home brewing.

He also completed his Diploma in brewing and sadly got rejected from many jobs which he applied for within the brewing industry.

After so long Alex was officially awarded his first job in Australia at a small brewery where he had to make cream liqueur, it was something but he wanted more.

By 2012, Alex and his partner moved to London and he took a job on at Camden Town Brewery, one of the many successful breweries based in the UK!

It was at this point where Alex started wondering, what was going to be his future aspects, where did he want to be in 5 years time, either start his own business or make a living in London, what would he brewery look like, all of these questions were being fired into his head!

After so much thorough thinking, Alex and his partner moved to Bristol and formed Lost and Grounded Brewers:

• Lost – not being able to find one’s way
• Grounded – Someone who has a fantastic understanding of why life is really important

Their mission is to make an inclusive brewery, to make quality beer to the best as they can, and always to remember how Alex and his partner have got to where they are today which is running there own business.

In July 2019, Lost and Grounded Brewers were celebrating their 3rd Birthday, the business has strived to success and it has been highly stated that Keller Pils which was the first beer in production is the flagship beer of the brewery.

This flagship beer comprises the majority of the brewery’s sales and is widely distributed around the whole of the UK and further afield.

In over 3 years the brewery has done 469 brews and their highest sales week was 41,889 pints, how amazing is that!

Keller Pils has made national TV appearances and has been supplied to some major events such as Bristol Pride, it does make me very happy indeed that Honestbrew included this beer in there Top 12 Best Of British Beers, because it certainly does deserve it!

At the start of 2020, Lost and Grounded officially opened up there new taproom which has seen visitors from all around the world visiting this fantastic place.

I seriously want to send a massive congratulations to the team over at Lost and Grounded, because Alex has successfully shown that you should never give up on life and that you should fight to achieve your goals.

I really hope this brewery continues to move forward in the future, it has had a tremendous journey that should always be remembered.

Tasting Notes

The Pilsner malt which is used to create this classic beer is exported from Germany, which is then combined with three traditional hops – Magnum, Perle and Hallertauer Mittelfruh.

Keller Pils is a malty, hoppy and refreshing golden hop lager beer which has a bursting bitter finish, sweet flavourings along with citrus and pineapple.

Review

After doing some calculations, I have worked out that I have only two cans left in my case now, I am quite impressed that it’s lasted since May, but I was extremely looking forward to trying the Keller Pils, especially the fact that it’s a lager beer, this is the second lager/beer I’ve ever tried!

Wow, the flavours were outstanding, the beer tasted amazing!

I would say though if you like your hoppy beers, then I would suggest this beer is probably not the one for you, it was also intensively malty, but this was balanced with the sweet aromas which were appearing at the top of the glass.

Just imagine that your drinking a German/Belgian beer now, well I can honestly tell you, that’s the story of this beer, the bitter flavours were deeply impressively.

I would have to say that the beer was slightly punchy as well, there were just enormous amounts of flavour, I really couldn’t believe what I was drinking, but it felt special.

I have to give a massive toast to Lost and Grounded Brewers for making such a remarkable beer, just remember this brewery was started by a guy, Alex, who wanted to be a brewer at the age of 18, and he’s gone and smashed his goals and produced this masterpiece.

Ending

What an experience that was, I almost felt like when I was drinking this beer that I was in Alex’s shoes, and I was recapturing his career, just witnessing how he started off with a small job making cream liqueur and then to now running his own brewery.

I believe its only correct that as my wonderful followers, that you should purchase a bottle of this beer, I mean whats not to like about it!

It has everything, flavour, characteristic, style but most importantly a story about a fantastic chap called Alex.
