Happy Hump Day everyone, I hope you’re having an enjoyable week so far, it has been a very busy one for me, but I am looking forward to the rest of the week!
The good news about today though is that I am back at work after being off for 3 months, I am really looking forward to going back and seeing everyone, I can’t believe how long it has been.
Anyway, today’s post is a craft beer review post on a wonderful beer/lager called Show Off (5.2% ABV)
History
Show Off is a cracking lager beer that is splendidly brewed by Camden Town Brewery, the brewery is situated in London within the area of Enfield.
The brewery was established in 2010 and is currently owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev which is a popular brewing owner within the UK.
A fun fact for you all here, AB Inbev is the current owner of the classical British beer Draught Bass!
Camden Town Brewery was founded by Jasper Cuppaidge and there is a funny build-up story to how he actually created this new business.
In the 1990s, Jasper accidentally missed his flight back to Australia and therefore decided to remain in the UK!
He ended up having a job as a glass collector inside a London pub.
Around 10 years later, Jasper purchased a dilapidated pub in Hampstead, he refurbished it and then re-opened it in 2006 as The Horseshoe.
Next, in 2007, Jasper brewed his first batch of beer and named it Mac’s Beer in honour of his Grandfather. This batch of beer became so successful, in the end Jasper sold the beer to his pub-owner friends.
Then, in 2009 he began to pursue a full-time business in brewing lager, however, there were complications, because Jasper found out that the name Mac’s was already in use by another brewing company.
One day, inspired by the borough that he lived in, Jasper decided to type Camden Town Brewery into the Internet, nothing showed up, so he decided to purchase the domain.
This is Jasper, who is the genius behind the brand of Camden Town Brewery, what a fantastic guy, who started his business off from looking on the Internet to purchase a domain and now has a brewery that is vastly popular in all areas of the UK!
In 2010 around the Springtime, Camden Town Brewery officially started brewing, the first recipe was focused on a beautiful popular lager which is widely available and that is Helles Lager!
In December 2015, the brewery was being bought by the worlds largest brewer AB InBev for around approximately £85 million.
Not long just after the brewery had a change of location and moved from its former location in Camden to its new location of Enfield, this relocation was all completed by spring 2017.
I mean you’ve got to admit, that is such a beautiful brewery, I am not going to lie from the front it looks like a car showroom.
It’s also situated right next to a beautiful canal that leads to the William Girling Reservoir.
I’ve mentioned in a couple of my posts that I’ve been to London once but that was when I was a young teen, I would love to go back and explore all of the tremendous breweries in the area, I think me and Isobel will have to plan a trip in the future!
Tasting Notes
A juicy and refreshing lager beer which is very crisp and sweet with plenty of fruitiness on the palate leaving a malty citrusy aftertaste.
Review
I will admit there is a rhythm of craft ale posts at this moment in time, this is down to the pubs being closed and when the pubs do re-open they will be a lot more beer at home posts, please do stay tuned for future reviews.
Now, back to Show Off, well I didn’t know what to expect when I saw this beer in the local shop, it clearly said on the can Juicy Lager, I did consider not buying it at first, but in my mind, it’s all about trying new products.
There was a wide range of Camden Town Brewery beers that I could’ve purchased, but Show Off looked more appealing just because I really liked the name!
The branding on the can is remarkable and I also adored how on the back of the can there was a blurb on the history of Camden Town Brewery.
The first sip of this beer was very powerful, the weird thing though that struck me was that it tasted more like a beer than a lager, I know it’s classed as a lager, in my eyes I see it as a bright blonde lager ale.
It was completely gorgeous and the fruitiness just made the beer so indulging, I thought at first I wasn’t going to enjoy it, but no, I loved it.
Think you can easily tell the colour of the beer matches the colour of the can!
I just can’t believe how beautiful though this beer is, I could go on and on all day and talk about it but I’ve got to stop at one point haha.
I consider this as being a beautiful best buy!
Ending
Camden Town Brewery hasn’t just produced an amazing beer, they have created a masterpiece and it’s one beer that I will happily try again and again…
In the coming weeks, I will be broadcasting another beer post from this brewery which I sampled throughout the lockdown, keep your eyes peeled!
I really do recommend this beer to you and the best advice I can give you is to pick one up from your local supermarket store (Preferably Sainsbury’s) there is no need to travel all the way down to London.
Please look out for this beer and give it a bash and let me know what you think to it!
Cheers

No idea why, but I’ve never had a Camden beer. Something has just always put me off. I enjoyed the review and their back story, so I’ll be grabbing some at the weekend to give a go!

I say it’s always worth a go trying new products, I know this is classed as a juicy lager, but I do see it as a beer and I really enjoyed it 😁🍻

My favorite parts of your posts are the tidbits of history! It really gives you a fuller picture of the product by understanding more about where it came from. That’s such a cool story that the name was found by an internet search! (and I totally agree, the brewery looks like car dealership at first glance lol)

I love craft beers but it’s only been a recent thing. During lick down I’ve been trying quite a few whilst enjoying my garden. This one looks very appealing and will try it if I see it on sale.
I also love the history to it.
